Call for Pitches for "Pitches for a Purpose Session" from Impact and Profit ’24 Attendees

Hello! We’re thrilled you’ll be joining us at the upcoming Impact and Profit ’24 conference. We’re offering a unique opportunity for attendees to submit pitch ideas in advance for consideration. If your pitch is selected, it will serve as a starting point for small groups of conference participants—spanning the industry, social and behavior change experts, and funder representatives—to review, discuss and share feedback on ways to enhance the social impact elements of each pitch.

If you get selected, your written pitch will reach a broad audience, allowing you to receive valuable feedback from a variety of stakeholders. This opportunity is open only to conference attendees, with pitches due by Wednesday, November 27 to be considered for review by the session planning team, who will select the final pitches for the event that will be workshopped in written form.     Pitch Workshop Submission Agreement

    This agreement (“Agreement”) governs the submission of ideas, scripts, loglines, and related materials (“Submission”) for the Pitch Workshop at the Impact + Profit Conference (“Workshop”), organized by SIES (“Organizer”). By submitting a Submission, each participant (“Entrant”) agrees to the following terms and conditions:

    I. Ownership and Intellectual Property

    1. Ownership of Submission: Entrants retain all rights, title, and interest in their Submission. Organizer does not claim ownership of the Submission.

    2. License Grant: By submitting, Entrant grants Organizer a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, display, and distribute the Submission for the purposes of administering, facilitating, and promoting the Workshop. This includes sharing Submissions internally with Workshop participants and externally with conference attendees.

    3. Independent Development: Entrant acknowledges that Organizer, its affiliates, and participants may have access to or independently develop content similar to the Submission. Nothing in this Agreement shall prevent Organizer or participants from developing similar ideas independently, provided there is no direct copying of the Entrant’s specific expression.

    II. Public Disclosure

    1. Consent to Public Use: Entrant agrees that their Submission may be discussed, critiqued, or otherwise publicly disclosed as part of the Workshop. This includes both live discussions during the Workshop and subsequent public sharing through Organizer’s platforms or conference-related materials.

    2. No Confidentiality: Entrant understands that their Submission is not being submitted in confidence, and no confidential relationship is created between Entrant and Organizer or any other participant in the Workshop.

    III.Warranties and Representations:

    Entrant warrants and represents that:

    1. They are the sole author and owner of the Submission or have all necessary rights and permissions to submit the work.

    2. The Submission does not infringe upon any copyright, trademark, patent, or other intellectual property rights, or the privacy or publicity rights of any third party.

    3. The Submission does not contain defamatory, obscene, or unlawful material.

    IV. Release and Indemnification

    1. Release: Entrant releases Organizer, its affiliates, and conference participants from any and all liability, claims, or actions of any kind arising from or relating to the public discussion or critique of their Submission.

    2. Indemnification Clause: Entrant expressly releases Organizer of any legal or other responsibility for the physical, digital, oral or other materials being submitted by Entrant for discussion and use in the Pitch Workshop, or otherwise, including return thereof to Entrant. Further, Entrant agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Organizer, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, and participants (collectively, the “Indemnified Parties”) from and against any and all claims, demands, losses, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees and court costs) arising out of or in connection with: (a) Entrant’s Submission, including but not limited to any claims that the Submission infringes upon, misappropriates, or otherwise violates the intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights of any third party; (b) Entrant’s breach or alleged breach of any warranties, representations, or obligations under this Agreement; or (c) any violation of law or the rights of any third party by Entrant in connection with the Submission or participation in the Workshop. The Indemnified Parties reserve the right to assume the exclusive defense and control of any matter subject to indemnification, at Entrant’s expense, and Entrant agrees to cooperate fully with such defense. This indemnification obligation shall survive the termination or expiration of this Agreement.

    V. No Obligation to Use or Return Submission

    Organizer is under no obligation to use, review, or return any Submission. Organizer may disqualify or remove any Submission that violates this Agreement.

    VI. Dispute Resolution

    1. Governing Law: This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of California, without regard to its conflict of laws principles.

    2. Arbitration: Any disputes arising under this Agreement shall be resolved through binding arbitration in California, under the rules of JAMS. Prevailing party to be reimbursed for their attorney’s fees.

    VII. Additional Terms

    1. Amendments: Organizer reserves the right to modify the terms of this Agreement and the Workshop at any time without prior notice.

    2. Entire Agreement: This Agreement constitutes the entire understanding between Entrant and Organizer regarding the Submission and supersedes any prior agreements.

    3. Severability: If any provision of this Agreement is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
