Founded by Producer Joanna Natasegara in 2014, Violet Films have an established track record of running some of the most impactful film outreach campaigns. Past film projects include the Academy Award winning short documentary, THE WHITE HELMETS, which helped to significantly raise the profile of the heroic work of Syrian rescue workers. Working with charity partner, The Syria Campaign, the film helped increase awareness of the White Helmets through press and media and engagement, and from support from influencers including George Clooney.
As Producer of the Academy Award and BAFTA nominated VIRUNGA, Violet Films led an award-winning campaign to draw attention to the plans of a British oil company to explore for oil within Africa’s oldest National Park. Working closely with Virunga National Park, and with support from Executive Producer Leonardo DiCaprio, the film raised the issue in the public consciousness, and the company ultimately gave up their license and efforts to explore in the area around Virunga National Park.
Violet has also strategised on other hard-hitting impact campaigns, including NO FIRE ZONE, THE BORNEO PROJECT and THE HOUSE I LIVE IN, and have established a network of collaborators and supporters including Participant Media, Virgin, the 11th Hour Project, DocSociety and the Bertha Foundation.
