We envision a world where human rights are protected by the power of the people.
Harness’ vision and mission are rooted in the beginnings of the organization – a simple house meeting held by America Ferrera, Wilmer Valderrama, and Ryan Piers Williams after the 2016 presidential elections. Driven by a call to respond to the shifting political climate, they brought together their community of culture leaders, influencers, and trendsetters in the entertainment, business, and technology industries with grassroots leaders to speak about the challenges facing vulnerable communities.
We work to shift current dominant narratives about social issues by bringing grassroots leaders that work with communities of color, immigrants, refugees, and Muslims – as well as broader issues of racial equality – to the table with pop culture leaders and influencers to learn how we can change narratives together. This is accomplished through Mainstage events featuring community partners, specialized programming for entertainment, business, and technology industries, content creation, and strategic partnerships with media partners.
Harness is fiscally sponsored by the California Community Foundation.
